Frequently asked questions

What happens to transparency when I convert to JPG?

JPG has no alpha channel. Transparent areas are filled with the background color you choose, so pick a color that matches where the image will appear.

Which quality setting should I use?

For photos, 80 to 90 usually balances size and clarity. Use 100 only when the image needs maximum fidelity.

Can I convert many images at once?

Yes. Add up to 300 files, convert them with the same settings, then download the results as a ZIP archive.

Does converting to PNG increase the file size?

Often yes for photos, because PNG is lossless. PNG is a better fit for screenshots, logos and images with sharp edges or transparency.

Are animated files supported?

This tool is for still images. Use Animated WebP Maker or APNG Maker for animations, and the GIF tools for GIF files.
