Frequently asked questions
What is the difference between APNG and GIF?
APNG supports full-color, lossless frames and 8-bit transparency. GIF is limited to 256 colors and one-bit transparency but has broader support in older software.
Why is my APNG larger than a GIF?
Lossless color and alpha need more data. If file size matters more than perfect quality, use Animated WebP Maker or GIF Compressor.
Does APNG loop?
Yes. Set the loop count to 0 for an infinite loop, or enter a positive number to repeat a fixed number of times.
Can I use APNG in email?
Support is limited. For email, a GIF or a static image is usually safer.
